Gurdaspur, December 31 ( ) – The year 2024 has proved to be a boon for the border district of Gurdaspur in terms of revolutionary reforms being made by the Punjab Government in the field of health services. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and the efforts of Punjab Health Systems Corporation Chairman Mr. Raman Bahl, the border district of Gurdaspur has made great strides in the field of providing quality health services.
Giving information about the health reforms carried out in the border district of Gurdaspur during the year 2024, Punjab Health Systems Corporation Chairman Mr. Raman Bahl said that the Punjab Government has established the old Civil Hospital Gurdaspur as a 30-bedded Urban Community Health Center at a cost of Rs. 3.50 crore, in which OPD, Day Care Emergency Facility, New Ultra Modern X-ray Plant, CR System, Lab Service, Gynecology and Pediatrics facilities have been provided.
Chairman Mr. Raman Bahl further informed that 62 Aam Aadmi Clinics are running in the district, out of which 27 Aam Aadmi Clinics have started in the year 2024. During the year 2024, a total of 19,112 patients received free treatment under the Chief Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme in District Gurdaspur, on which Rs. 9,70,59,390 has been spent.
A 50-bedded Critical Care Block is being set up at the District Hospital Babri (Gurdaspur) at a cost of Rs. 16.75 crore. Apart from this, a 50-bedded Maternal and Child Health Care Ward is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 10.50 crore, which is nearing completion. Mr. Bahl said that an Integrated Public Health Lab is also being set up at a cost of Rs. 1.25 crore, which will be completed soon. Along with this, the construction of District Early Intervention Center for New Born Babies has also started at a cost of Rs. 1.30 crore, on which Rs. 1.30 crore will be spent.
Chairman Mr. Raman Bahl said that RT-PCR lab was started at a cost of Rs. 1.35 crore in District Hospital Gurdaspur to conduct tests for COVID-19, Dengue, Swine Flu, HIV, Chicken Gunia and many other viral desease. Drug Rehabilitation Center was restarted. LMO Plant started to provide 24×7 oxygen supply to CH. State Midwifery Training Institute was established to start courses for nursing practitioners with an annual capacity of 30 graduate nursing students. Operation theaters were modernized and strengthened with new OT tables, OT lights, spinal endoscope and anesthesia work station. Apart from this, Radiology department was strengthened with a new latest ultrasound machine. OPD, emergency, ward, lab services have also been strengthened. Mr. Raman Bahl informed that 7 doctors have started their PG in Gynaecology and Paediatrics under DNB Scheme at District Hospital Gurdaspur. Food and Drug Zonal Office has been started at a cost of Rs. 60 lakhs.
Chairman Mr. Raman Bahl informed that District Gurdaspur stood first in Indian Hypertension Control Initiative under NCD. Gurdaspur is ranked second in the state in ODK Tool Kit of IPHS standards with more than 150 percent achievement. 2 new 108 ambulances have been started from CHC Kalanaur and PHC Dhyanpur. 9 healthcare facilities have achieved national certification and 26 more healthcare facilities have achieved state level certification under National Quality Assurance Scheme.
Mr. Raman Bahl said that the year 2024 has been a memorable and historic year in terms of health services and new heights will be touched in the field of health services during the year 2025 as well.
