Fazilka 16 May 2025 Aj Di Awaaj

Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu has said that under Section 41(1) of the Juvenile Justice Act 2015 enacted by the Government of India, it is mandatory for all those government or non-government institutions which provide accommodation and food and care facilities to orphans and helpless children or disabled children between the ages of 0 and 18 years to get registered, irrespective of whether such an institution receives grant from the government or not. She said that running such an institution without registration is a violation of the said section and can be punished with one year imprisonment or a fine of Rs. 1 lakh or both.
She appealed that if any non-government institution is running such an orphanage or any home for the care of children, then it should get itself registered without delay. She said that for this, an application can be given under Form 27 Rule 21(2) and 22(2) of the Juvenile Justice Model Rules 2016.
The Deputy Commissioner said that apart from Matar Chhaya Orphanage Alamgarh, Udbhav Awas Abohar and Special Adoption Agency Fazilka, no child shelter/orphanage is registered in Fazilka district at present. He appealed that if any child shelter/orphanage is running, then its information should be given immediately at District Child Protection Office Fazilka, Room No. 405, 3rd Floor, A Block, District Administrative Complex, Fazilka. And the non-governmental organizations which have not been registered should submit their application form to the District Child Protection Office.
